Prada is going to take a big green move for its iconic nylon bags, by launching the “Re-Nylon” collection. Featuring six styles of belt bag, shoulder bag, and two backpacks, the new collection will be made out of ocean plastics, fishing nets and textile fiber waste. The brand ensures that all 700,000 meters of nylon it uses annually will be fully recycled by 2021.
“It is a massive reduction of nylon and a big impact in terms of sustainability,” said Lorenzo Bertelli, Head of Marketing and Communication at Prada Group. Bertelli states that they see lots of demand on the market, it is truly a start of an era for them, hoping every competitor will move to more sustainable manufacturing approaches.
